I was born and raised in Pittsburgh, PA, went to school at the Indiana University of Pennsylvania and taught kindergarten for a year in State College, PA, before moving to Seattle and marrying my high school sweetheart. Both of my grandfathers were pastors, so I was raised to love and worship Jesus all throughout my life. In the classroom, I love helping my students to learn and grow both academically and spiritually. Outside of the classroom, I like watching football, spending time with family, and skiing. I’m very excited to contribute to ECS  and look forward to the years to come.

Born and raised in Hawaii, I left my island home to attend the University of Washington.  After graduating in 2012 with a Master in Teaching, I taught for two years at South Shore PreK-8.  While teaching at South Shore PreK-8 was a huge blessing, there are many reasons why I love teaching at ECS.  Sure, there are perks like my wife and I being able to carpool to work, but what I’m most excited about is helping students grow spiritually, not just academically.  When I’m not planning or grading, I enjoy playing the drums, jogging, cooking, and eating sushi, Korean bbq, and dim sum.

I attended school in Germany and England for undergraduate and graduate school, and it taught me the value of scholastics, determination, and faith. I discovered that I love to learn and contemplate God’s works through literature and culture. I’m excited to share with my students His grace, love, and faithfulness. After teaching for many years in public high school, I am blessed to join the ECS family as a parent and as a teacher. My oldest daughter is starting Kindergarten, and my two little ones are starting German-immersion preschool. My loving husband and I love to be active with ballet, yoga, water skiing and snow skiing. I come from Central Washington and I love the Pacific Northwest. Go Hawks.

I joined the ECS family in 1988, when my oldest son attended preschool. All three of my children attended ECS from Preschool through Middle School.  I started teaching as a Kindergarten aide from 1994 – 2005, then returned to school to earn my Masters in Teaching certificate. I returned to ECS in 2006 to be a lead teacher in 5th grade.  I have enjoyed teaching 5th graders ever since.  In my spare time, I enjoy being outdoors, walking, water skiing, playing with my grandchildren, boating and Husky Football! (If I can do all of them at the same time… it is a perfect day!)

I was born and raised in the greater Seattle area and consider myself to be quite the typical PNW-native. I thoroughly enjoy the outdoors and soaking in the gorgeous Seattle sunshine by hiking, playing volleyball, and walking my Golden Retriever Beau. Typically, I spend my summers traveling and spent two weeks this July exploring Europe with my mom. Aside from teaching, I also coach varsity volleyball at Bellevue Christian School. After taking a short break from teaching in private school, I realized just how special the ECS environment is. The community, relationships, and spiritual connections we are able to make are extremely unique, and I am very much enjoying my return to ECS this year!

I grew up in Long Beach, California, and studied Intercultural Studies, Education, and Bible at Biola University. After college, I moved from the central coast of California to Washington.  I have taught at a variety of places, from a small Christian co-op to a 1000+ student public school, as well as on the decks of tall ships!  My favorite thing about teaching is to see students grow and to understand how God is involved in all aspects of life.  No amount of knowledge could ever quench my wonder of who He is!  Outside of school, I enjoy hiking, reading, feeding people, writing letters, and creating things.
