Honoring Our Grandparents
At Eastside Christian School, we believe that grandparents are a treasured and irreplaceable part of a child’s life. Their wisdom, faith, encouragement, and love leave a lasting imprint—not only on their grandchildren, but on our entire school community.
Whether near or far, actively involved day-to-day or faithfully encouraging from a distance, grandparents help shape the hearts and character of our students in meaningful ways. Many of the values we seek to cultivate—respect, perseverance, compassion, and a love for God—are often first modeled and reinforced by the generations who have gone before.
We also recognize that “grandparent” is a role that extends beyond biology. God often places other faithful adults—family friends, neighbors, and mentors—into the lives of our students to provide the same steady presence, guidance, and care. We are grateful for each person who fills this special role.
“Grandchildren are the crown of the aged, and the glory of children is their fathers.”
— Proverbs 17:6
As a school, we are committed to honoring the legacy and influence of grandparents—past, present, and future. Their investment in the lives of our students reflects a beautiful picture of God’s design for generational faithfulness.
One of the ways we celebrate this important relationship is through our annual Grandparents Day. This special day provides a wonderful opportunity for students to honor their grandparents and for grandparents (and “special friends”) to experience firsthand the vibrant learning and Christ-centered discipleship taking place at ECS.
Guests are welcomed into a meaningful morning that typically includes an all-school (Preschool–8th grade) chapel gathering, light refreshments, and time spent in classrooms—offering a glimpse into the daily life, learning, and community that shape our students.
Throughout the year—and especially on this day—we count it a blessing to partner not only with parents, but with the generations who stand beside them, faithfully pointing children toward Christ. Many grandparents also choose to support the mission of ECS through prayer, volunteering in classrooms, attendance at school events, and generous investment, helping ensure that this Christ-centered education continues for years to come.
We look forward to your visit!
