Chapel
ECS offers weekly gatherings where our students can worship together and hear God’s loving, personal message to each of them. Our Split-Chapels allow us to teach age-appropriate lessons tailored to the different grade levels, and our monthly all-school Chapel allows us to focus on important themes as a school. Some key distinctions of our program include:
- Creative and enthusiastic presentations of timeless Biblical truths
- Age-specific worship at each group level
- Abundant opportunities for student involvement and participation
We invite all current and former ECS parents and alumni to join us for worship and teaching at any of our weekly chapels. Contact the office for location, dates/times or more information.
Our monthly themes and accompanying character development traits, along with some summaries of all-school chapel messages, will be added here as the year progresses.

September — Jesus: Our Greatest Treasure
Key Scriptures: Matthew 6:33; Philippians 3:8; Matthew 13:44–46; Luke 19:10
We began the year by centering our hearts on Jesus as our greatest treasure. Students reflected on how knowing and following Christ gives meaning, identity, and purpose. This foundational month established the truth that every virtue we pursue flows from valuing Him above all else. Student Recognition — Kingdom Treasure Award: Given to students who demonstrated devotion to Christ and a desire to honor Him in their priorities, attitudes, and daily choices.
October — Wisdom: Treasuring Christ Through Godly Understanding
Key Scriptures: Proverbs 2:1–6; Colossians 2:3; James 1:5; Proverbs 14:12
Students learned that seeking wisdom is one way we treasure Jesus, in whom all true wisdom is found. They reflected on how choosing God’s understanding over worldly thinking reveals where our hearts are anchored. When Christ is our greatest treasure, we seek His truth to guide every decision. Student Recognition — Wisdom Seeker Award: Given to students who demonstrated discernment, thoughtful choices, and a commitment to seeking God’s guidance.
November — Gratitude: Treasuring Christ With Thankful Hearts
Key Scriptures: 1 Thessalonians 5:18; Philippians 4:6–7; Luke 17:11–19
Students discovered that gratitude naturally grows when we recognize Jesus as our greatest treasure. Rather than focusing on what is lacking, they learned to rest in God’s goodness and provision. Thankfulness became an expression of trust—evidence that our hearts are satisfied in Him. Student Recognition — Thankful Heart Award: Given to students who consistently expressed gratitude, encouraged others through thankfulness, and trusted God in all circumstances.
December — Joy: Treasuring Christ Who Brings Lasting Joy
Key Scriptures: Luke 2:10–11; John 15:11; Matthew 2:10–11
During Advent, students reflected on the deep joy that comes from the gift of Christ. They learned that when Jesus is our greatest treasure, joy becomes steady and enduring, rooted in His presence rather than changing circumstances. Their celebration of Christ’s coming reminded us that true joy flows from Him alone. Student Recognition — Joyful Light Award: Given to students who reflected Christlike joy and encouraged others through a hopeful and uplifting spirit.
January — Faithfulness: Treasuring Christ Through Steadfast Living
Key Scriptures: Luke 16:10; Lamentations 3:22–23; Galatians 6:9; Galatians 5:22–23
Students reflected on how faithfulness reveals what we truly treasure. As they considered God’s unwavering faithfulness to us, they were encouraged to live with steady commitment and perseverance. When Christ is our greatest treasure, we remain dependable and steadfast in both responsibilities and relationships. Student Recognition — Faithful Servant Award: Given to students who demonstrated reliability, perseverance, and consistent character.
February — Love: Treasuring Christ by Loving Others
Key Scriptures: 1 John 4:10; 1 Corinthians 13:7; John 13:34–35
Students are exploring how love is the natural outpouring of hearts that treasure Jesus. As they reflecte on Christ’s sacrificial love, they learn that loving others is one of the clearest ways we show our devotion to Him. Their words and actions become opportunities to reflect His love. Student Recognition — Christlike Love Award: Given to students who demonstrate kindness, compassion, and selfless care for others.
ACTS
Our ACTS Program is another avenue of spiritual growth, providing middle school students with an opportunity to develop leadership skills and elementary students with an additional learning experience based on our monthly chapel theme. Here is the way it works:
- Elementary students are divided into small groups of K-2nd or 3rd-5th grade students, each led by a team of 7th and 8th graders and a classroom teacher.
- Object lessons and interactive games are used to help students apply the truths of each monthly chapel theme.
- 7th and 8th grade leaders receive weekly instruction and feedback on planning and facilitating their small-group sessions.
My favorite class is music and I like ACTS group. It is a fun way to learn about God.
My Amazing School: I like many things about my school. I would like to tell you about them. My school is the only school that has ACTS group. I also like that it has a big playground for us to play on. There are really nice teachers that teach there.
I love ECS because I get to go to ACTS group with my friends.
