I love music, art, hiking, beaches, and prayer. I have known ECS as a staff and parent for 10-plus years. My daughter attended ECS from pre-K-8th grade, and I have witnessed the influence of Christian education firsthand. I have enjoyed teaching children throughout the elementary grades, and believe that mastery of basic skills is essential in the primary grades. I look forward to working with other teachers to provide an engaging and collaborative environment as we expand our virtual programs this year. There isn’t just one way to teach or learn, which motivates me to seek a variety of ways in which students feel motivated to learn and succeed.

I grew up in Texas and taught there for 12 years, both in Kindergarten and 1st grade. Our family moved to Seattle in 2020, where we felt God was calling me to stay home and raise our two little girls. I first discovered ECS as a parent when my oldest daughter started preschool here in 2022. We loved it from the very start, and it affirmed our belief in the importance of a Christian education.

After a three-year break from teaching, I am so excited to be part of the ECS family! Teaching is such a privilege and I feel blessed to be able to serve God and others in such an exceptional and caring community.

In my free time I enjoy running, baking and exploring the great PNW with my family.

My hobbies include hiking, walking my tawny lab Angel, and gardening. I love children and am passionate about teaching. Two of my own children have become teachers, one at the high school level and the other at middle school. I made a decision at a young age to ask Jesus into my life. My relationship with Christ has grown through the years. He is the source of my strength and the reason I live. Sharing my faith journey with the children at our school is what God has called me to do. It is my desire to be able to influence children to love, serve and follow Jesus.

I am so excited to be on staff at ECS. I am originally from Eastern Oregon. Growing up I attended a small non-denominational church with my family. I accepted the Lord as my Savior when I was 12. I have walked with the Lord since then. After attending college at Oregon State University, I moved to the Seattle area with my husband, James, in 1987. We are currently members of St. Barbara Catholic Church in Black Diamond. We have two grown children and a grandson. For over 20 years, I have been involved in Christian education as a parent, teacher and administrator. My children attended Christian school from preschool through 12th grade. I have taught preschool through 6th grade. I served as a preschool director and elementary principal for five years. My favorite part of teaching is watching the students grow and learn new things. Their excitement when they discover a new concept brings joy to my heart. It gives me a small glimpse at how the Lord must feel when we as Christians accomplish His works.

I am so excited to be part of the ESC community! I graduated from UW so many years ago and am a Washington native.  While teaching is my latest career, I have also been a retail manager, wedding planner, a nanny, a sub-contractor.  I am happy to say I have finally found the perfect job!  I have taught high school special ed, 4th grade gifted, 5th grade, and now am teaching 2nd grade here at ECS. Almost all my favorite activities are centered around working with kids, being a Mom, camp counselor as often as possible, volunteering with high schoolers at Crossroads Bible Church, leading Cub scouts as a scoutmaster for 10 years, nannying for a family for 7 years, and now teaching. I know that all my different experiences have given me a great perspective for teaching your children.

I have led a Christian life since 5 years of age.  I attended University Presbyterian for most of my life, met my husband there when I was 13 and baptized my 3 boys at UPC.  My 3 Eagle Scouts are 26, 23 and 20 years old. I currently attend Crossroads Bible Church and am loving working in the high school area as a core group leader in my 12th year.

After spending 20 years in the corporate world as a retail and HR professional, I made a career change to follow my passion and become a teacher. I began my career teaching Kindergarteners 5 years ago at a private school in Bellevue. While I really enjoyed teaching in Bellevue, I really wanted to teach in a Christian school because I believe our most important mission is to raise Christian children. I’m so glad to finally have this opportunity at ECS!  When I’m not spending time in the classroom, I enjoy taking long walks, attending sporting events (especially my children’s basketball and football games), shopping, and spending time with my 2 children, husband, and Lhasa Apso Sport.

I grew up in Long Beach, California, and studied Intercultural Studies, Education, and Bible at Biola University. After college, I moved from the central coast of California to Washington. I have taught at a variety of places, from a small Christian co-op to a 1000+ student public school, as well as on the decks of tall ships! My favorite thing about teaching is to see students grow and to understand how God is involved in all aspects of life. No amount of knowledge could ever quench my wonder of who He is! Outside of school, I enjoy hiking, reading, feeding people, writing letters, and creating things.

Born and raised in Hawaii, I left my island home to attend the University of Washington. After graduating in 2012 with a Master in Teaching, I taught for two years at South Shore PreK-8. While teaching at South Shore PreK-8 was a huge blessing, there are many reasons why I love teaching at ECS. What I’m most excited about is helping students grow spiritually and academically. When I’m not teaching, I enjoy spending time with my new daughter and my wife, and also serving on our church’s worship team as a drummer.

I initially joined ECS as a parent and love the community so much. All four of my children have attended ECS, with the eldest in the class of 2022 and the youngest in the class of 2031, God willing.

As a first generation American, education has always been of huge importance, coming second only to faith and family. Growing up, my summers were filled with mission trips to Kenya, Tanzania, Egypt, and Mexico. I have served as a Sunday school teacher since I was eighteen and continued to serve the Lord in the field of education.

After being married and moving to Washington in 2007, I worked as the middle school science and math teacher at Renton Christian School. Then our family moved to Connecticut for two years and Belgium for five months, where my husband completed his medical training. When we finally came back to Washington, we looked for an outstanding, faith-centered school to enrich our children, and we found ECS. When I wasn’t home schooling my own growing family, I was at ECS as a substitute teacher, until being called to be a full-time teacher in 2022.

I attended school in Germany and England for undergraduate and graduate school, and it taught me the value of scholastics, determination, and faith. After teaching for many years in public high school, I am blessed to join the ECS family as a parent and as a teacher. All of my children attend Eastside Christian.
