I was born and raised in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where I also raised my three children. Today they are pursuing careers in social work, project management, and software engineering, and although we now live in different states, I am incredibly proud of each of them.

Before coming to Eastside Christian School, I spent nearly three decades teaching music in Wisconsin, including 19 years in one district and experience working in a specialized autism program. I have a deep passion for helping students discover confidence and joy through music.

In 2015, I founded a children’s theatre program that produced licensed Broadway productions for young performers, including The Lion King Jr., with a special emphasis on creating opportunities for students with autism. I have also taught private piano and voice lessons.

When I was a child, my siblings and I sang and played instruments in church almost every Sunday. My personal relationship with Jesus Christ has guided my life and work, and I am passionate about helping children discover and grow in their own musical gifts. I am thrilled to be at ECS, where I can combine my love for music with the opportunity to glorify God alongside the students in our school family.

Hola (Hello),

My name is Ruth Godoy, and I was born in Quito, Ecuador. I originally studied Business Administration back in my home country. When I moved to the United States, arriving in California, I left everything behind to start from zero.

I went to college in California to get an AA degree in computer Programing, eventually getting married and having two kids, who are now adults. Jesus called me before I moved to Seattle over 15 years ago, He has accepted me as His daughter, and I have become a strong Christian. I am blessed to call the Pacific Northwest my home. I am even more blessed to work at a school where Jesus is the center.

After moving to Seattle, I continued my education and started working with children for over 15 years. I hold a CDA certification in the State of Washington and look forward to being a guide and mentor to your children, as their growth expands. I’m blessed to be a part of the Eastside Christian School since joining in November 2021. I started working as a facilitator in the Eagle Club, and now I’m an elective teacher for the language department.

In my free time, I like to read as well as go on walks. However, one of my favorite things to do is spend time with my children as they mean the world to me. Over the years, I’ve learned that children bring inspiration to the world. This is why I want them to learn in a safe space and want to contribute to their learning environment.

I was born and raised in Seattle. As a lifelong sports enthusiast, I have coached and refereed basketball at various levels, from middle school to post-college intramural leagues. I will be starting as the ECS Athletics Director in 2025, after working here as both the PE teacher and a classroom aide. I have also coached the middle school boys’ and girls’ basketball teams since 2021. I love seeing our kids being active, having fun, and challenging themselves. My wife, Caroline, and I have two wonderful children, Lauren and Cameron, who have attended ECS as students. In my free time, I enjoy playing pickleball, attending sports events, spending quality time with family and friends, and exploring new cuisines. I love weaving scripture and sportsmanship together to teach teamwork, encouragement, humility, how to deal with adversity, and respect. I am excited to be a part of the ECS faculty family and honored to teach your children about the fun and benefits of physical fitness and athletics!

I graduated from Northwest University in 2022 with my Bachelor’s of Fine Arts in Contemporary Music Industry, which focused on music production and allowed me spend lots of time in the recording studio. I love all things music and have spent the past few years teaching piano and voice lessons, as well as music directing for musical theatre productions. In addition, I enjoy serving on my church’s worship team, singing in a local choir, making and recording music, creating art, and spending time with my cat, Harley. When I was in middle school, God placed a calling in my heart to start leading worship in my school and church, and he has continued to grow me and has given me many opportunities to serve in this way. I am excited to be leading worship at ECS and teaching middle school students to do the same, as well as directing middle school drama productions!

I am from mainland China and bring years of Chinese language teaching experience in the US and China having taught various levels of learners in a variety of learning contexts from tutoring to larger classes. I have worked with students from the ages of 6 to 70 since 2004.  I have worked for after school enrichment programs, organizations, language schools, as well as individual tutoring. I am excited to have the opportunity to help meet the educational needs of ECS by offering customized instruction that motivates students and helps them set and achieve language goals. I have a passion to see students not only simply learn a language but also enjoy the experience through cultural and aesthetic avenues.

As an ardent follower of Christ myself, I am excited about working with likeminded co-laborers in the Lord who have the best interests of the children we serve at heart while supporting families through Christian education. My daughter is a recent graduate of ECS, and I deeply understand and appreciate the value and the level of commitment the ECS leadership places on a quality education. I am committed to using my gift of teaching Chinese see our students flourish in their understanding Chinese language while benefitting intellectually, socially, and spiritually.
